A Sessions court here is likely to pronounce its verdict on Tuesday on the plea of former Haryana DGP S.P.S. Rathore challenging the six-month sentence awarded to him by a CBI court for molesting a teenager.

The victim’s family and the CBI had also filed petitions seeking enhancement of the sentence to maximum two years.

On May 20, Additional District and Sessions Judge Gurbir Singh fixed May 25 for delivering the judgement on all the three pleas.

The Judge had earlier fixed May 20 for pronouncing the verdict but deferred it till Tuesday saying he needed more time to complete the process of writing the judgement.

The court had heared arguments on day-to-day basis from May 3 to 11. The proceedings were held in camera.

Rathore was sentenced to six-month imprisonment on December 21 last year by a CBI court for molesting the budding tennis star, at Panchkula on August 12, 1990 and after three years she committed suicide.
