Vijay Kumar Chopra, Editor-in- Chief of the Hind Samachar group, was elected chairman and Vineet Jain of the Times of India group vice-chairman of the board of directors of the Press Trust of India Ltd. (PTI) here on Thursday.
Mr. Chopra succeeds eminent physicist E.V. Chitnis, following the 61st annual general meeting of PTIs shareholders.
Besides Mr. Chopra and Mr. Jain, the other members of the PTI Board are N. Ravi ( The Hindu), R. Lakshmipathy ( Dinamalar), M.P. Veerendrakumar ( Mathrubhumi), Aveek Kumar Sarkar ( Anandabazar Patrika), Shekhar Gupta ( Indian Express), K.N. Shanth Kumar ( Deccan Herald), M.M. Gupta (Jagran Prakashan), H.N. Cama ( Bombay Samachar), Mrinal Pande ( Hindustan Times), Riyad Mathew ( Malayala Manorama).
Three non-newspaper directors are Professor Chitnis, Justice S.P. Bharucha and Fali S. Nariman.
