The BJP on Sunday described its victory in Uttar Pradesh local body polls as a clear verdict of the public against the corruption and price rise of the Congress-led UPA government.
“People of UP has given a clear verdict against the policies of Congress and its allies in the local body elections. They are fed up with the corruption, lawlessness and price rise,” BJP vice-president Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi told reporters here.
“The Congress, SP and BSP have been wiped out in the elections and BJP has won maximum seats in the civic elections,” he said.
Taking a dig at the Congress, Mr. Naqvi said “the party could not even win any seat in Amethi and Rae Bareli. This is a clear indication...Congress lost all the three seats they had won earlier.”
People have reposed faith in BJP as seen in the poll results which shows that the party has almost swept the local body elections in the state, he said.
“The party had won the civic elections in Delhi earlier.
It had also won the local elections in Maharashtra and now with the win in UP it has been proved that people have reposed their faith in BJP.”
Maintaining its dominance in urban local bodies, the BJP won seven of 12 Mayoral posts in municipal corporations in the three-tier elections.
Congratulating voters and party workers for the victory, Mr. Naqvi said the results are encouraging as it reflects the mood of the people and their anger against corruption and price rise.
“There is a possibility of mid-term elections and if it happens then the BJP will lead from the front to form the next government at the Centre,” he said.
This is the reflection of glee by people for BJP chosing Narendra Modi as Prime Ministerial candidate.
Recently on facebook 10000 people following Chetan Bhagat's blog were asked to vote for their choice for PM.Around 82% voted for Modi and only 5% for Rahul.This is a huge sample size .In my last three train journeys in different zones , chit chat with co passengers also gave me the same feeling that everybody wants Modi as PM.
Now it will depend on BJP as to whom they give tickets.They must ensure that the tickets should not be cornered by moneybags and criminals.They should project younsters like Anurag Thakur,Rudy,Sanjay Kaul,Nirmala Seetharaman,Shahnawaz Khan as probable team members of Mr Modi.Jai hind
The prestige of the Congress party has been on free fall in the country in the last many years.But for the massive support it receives from the media, it would have crashed on the ground long back.
/Namoskar/ I opine, the election results are not against UPA or BSP, SP, it is totally anti-incumbency polling/voting taken place, it is not totally in favour of supporting BJP by heart by UP Voters...BJP should not deviate from its Identity / policy & choosing clean image candidates (non-corrupted)in forthcoming all elections whether in States / Central....
It is good symptom for the Country. As long as Corrupt Congress is not wiped from the Centre till such time the reverse progress of Country won't stop. For forward progress the Country has to opt either BJP or Communists.
