DMK MP Kanimozhi said the judgment in the 2G case had erased the baseless accusations levelled against the DMK and others. In an interview to The Hindu, she said she would continue to involve herself more actively in politics.
How do you see this judgment?
I am happy that justice has prevailed. I was going through a lot of stress for the last seven years, and now finally, the baseless and unfair accusations against the DMK and others have been erased. The judgment has also proved that was a false case.
Frankly, did you expect an outcome in your favour?
I was confident because there was nothing in the case. All those who have been following the case are aware of this too. If justice is to be done, then this is the expected outcome.
The government may file an appeal against the order...
I have already suffered so much and nothing further will be a problem. I am really grateful to my family members, particularly my husband Aravindan, party’s working president M.K. Stalin, other leaders and cadres who had faith in me and stood by me at the time of crisis.
Did you meet your father before leaving for Delhi?
Yes. He asked me to remain bold and my brother and leader M.K. Stalin also spoke to me over phone and expressed his happiness, after the judgment. AICC president Rahul Gandhi congratulated me. He said it was a big day for all of us.
There is some talk that there will be a new post for you in the party...
I do not expect any post and I do not want any in the party. I want to be more active in my present position.
