Two injured in Assam train collision

Two persons were injured when the Kalangpar Express collided with a goods train while shunting at Haibargaon railway station in Nagaon district of Assam at 7.20 a.m. on Monday, Railway sources said.

After dropping the passengers at the Guwahati railway station, the empty bogies of Moirabari-Guwahati Kalangpar Express were proceeding to Haibargaon for parking when it overshot a signal and hit the goods train resulting in the derailment of the goods train engine, the sources said.

A guard and a pointsman supervising the shunting were among the injured. They were rushed to a hospital, the sources said.
