The Chhattisgarh government, which has already deputed a few persons to negotiate with the Maoists for securing the release of abducted Collector Alex Paul Menon, has now invited J. Joel, principal of Margoschis College at Nazareth in Tuticorin district, for the purpose.

After Dr. Joel sent a telegram to Chief Minister Raman Singh last Wednesday expressing his willingness to be the government's emissary, he received a couple of phone calls from the Chhattisgarh government officials, who reportedly asked him to be ready for the mission.

Again Dr. Joel received a phone call around 3.10 p.m. on Saturday from an official attached to the Chief Minister's Office, asking him to reach Raipur on Sunday.
