Normal life was disrupted here on Monday due to a strike by the private transport union demanding scrapping of passenger tax and withdrawal of attempt to murder cases against drivers in Jammu and Kashmir.

All public transport went off the road in Jammu and other regions in support of the All Jammu and Kashmir Transport Association's strike call.

Meanwhile, the State government plied State-owned State Road Transport Corporation buses to ferry people.

“We are demanding scrapping of passenger tax and cases registered against drivers in connection with accidents under section 307 of the Ranbir Penal Code [attempt to murder],” Vijay Kumar, spokesman of the association said here.
