Train drivers abducted in Assam

Suspected Reang militants have abducted two drivers of a train after stopping it at Ramnathpur in Hailakandi district bordering Mizoram on Friday.

The militants kidnapped the driver and assistant driver of the passenger train, on its way from Badarpur in Karimganj district to Bhairavi in Mizoram, the police said.

The driver was identified as Tarun Kumar Bhattacharjee and the assistant driver as S. K. Sarmah. Police, along with Army and CRPF personnel, have launched a hunt for the two. New drivers are being sent to the spot, railway officials said.
