Three Naxals arrested in Gadchiroli

Police have arrested three Naxals, including one Dalam commander in Gadchiroli district of Maharashtra in last three days.

Rajita alias Sukri Weladi (35), Suman alias Sumitra Malo Lekhami (23) and Tunge Hedo(22) are those arrested.

The Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of police, Gadchiroli range, Mr.Ravindra Kadam informed about the arrests to the media in a press conference in Gadchiroli on Wednesday.

According to DIG Kadam , Rajita is a senior member of the Naxal Dalam . She even worked as the Dalam Commander of Khobramendha Dalam of Gadchiroli.

The Anti-Naxal Squad of Gadchiroli police arrested Rajita from Charvidand village of the district on Tuesday. She was reportedly ill and had come to the village for medical assistance. She was arrested from the house of Chaitu Tulavi. Rajita has 35 case registered against her of attacking the police, murder, attempt to murder and arson, informed the DIG.

Rajita is the wife of Dalam Commander Ashok Raddy alias Murali who is currently in the custody of Andhra Pradesh police, according to some police sources.

The other arrested Naxalite, Suman alias Sumitra Lekhami is the resident of Pipali Burgi village in Etaplli tehsil and is a member of Kasansur Local Operating Squad (LOS) of Naxals. Tunge Hedo is from Manewada village.

Suman was member of Kasansur Area Committee of Naxals and also worked as Militia commander, according to the police.

A special team of Gadchiroli police arrested Suman and Tunge Hedo from Kasansur forests earlier this week, informed DIG Kadam.

Suman has 12 cases registered against her and Tunge Hedo has four cases against her, police said.
