Member of the erstwhile Team Anna Santosh Hegde admitted here on Wednesday that there were sharp differences between the Anna Hazare and Arvind Kejriwal camps.
Mr. Hegde was responding to journalists after he emerged from a meeting the anti-corruption activists had with prominent citizens, mediapersons and retired judges.
At the end of the marathon session, Mr. Kejriwal was seen with Mr. Hazare and Kiran Bedi, but he did not address the media. Said Mr. Hazare: “I have told those who have been advocating for a political party that you go ahead. If they think they will get a majority in the next Parliament, they have my good wishes but I will have nothing to do with the political party.’’
So sharp are the differences that a joint statement drafted in the meeting was not read out.
When a reporter remarked that the government now need not spend any money in dividing the anti-corruption movement that has divided on its own, Mr. Hazare said: “It is unfortunate. I tried hard to keep the team united since last several years, but we are splitting.’’
The venue of the meet — Constitution Club — was made out of bounds for the media, and a heavy posse of police in uniform and mufti were posted outside. “We are here to give protection to Mr. Hazare,’’ said a policeman who even invited this correspondent for lunch, when the hosts did not. Asked if this was a “sarkari’’ function, the policeman laughed.

If you want to change the system, be a part of the system!. Either as a burocrat or as a politician. Mr kejriwal is a former burocrat and he knows how "effective" it is.... I believe it is absolutley a right move from Arvind and team to form a party. Why can't Anna give it a try? Replacing the corrupted politicians is surely a better solution than conducting the so called "anti-corruption" movements, especially towards today's system and government. if he is scared of the failure, well he do not have the right to say that he is a fighter. Young India would definitley support Anna, Kejriwal and team in the forthcoming elections for sure....Way to go Mr. Kejriwal!!
Tragedy of India, good people can not walk two steps together, bad men remain united to
carry out their evil agendas. Hope Anna and Kejariwal remember the story of an old man
teaching his sons value of unity through a bundle of sticks.
perfect act ?? How can you make the laws you want without being part of the system. Anna cannot convice the politcal parties by fasts. You need to have the power to change laws or make new laws that will help our country.. what Aravind did is correct, It high time that we have a clean political party.
Anna's fast dramas wont work on our politics.
Is there any organization in the world that exists in the form it was
formed ? No for sure ! Political parties and religions are classic
examples of myriads of splits. 'Quot caput, tot intelligentia' goes
the saying in Latin (quoted from memory and may need correction)-
'there are as many ideas as there are heads.' Even if their goal is
one (apparently corruption free society) their ways are different -
even interests. Hence we are not surprised at the split - should have
happened sooner than later..... the beginning of the end of anti-
corruption crusade
A perfect act by Mr. Hazare. Morals, apart, strategically his move is perfect! He should
now consolidate his supporters in the team and try to organize movement to make
people realize! Let Mr. Kerijiwal try his luck in the forthcoming elections - most likely
he'd would try to make profit through his electorate. Hence, before next election Mr.
Hazare should clearly distance himself from Mr. Kerijiwal...
