A three-day workshop for aspiring women entrepreneurs got under way at SR Engineering College here on Tuesday.

The programme, organised by TiE Global, a non-profit organisation, is being funded by the US Mission India, US Department of State.

Addressing the gathering, the US Consulate Public Affairs Officer, Gabriel Hons Olivier, said the objective of the programme was to unlock the value creation among the aspiring young women in tier-2 and tier-3 cities in India by empowering them. The US Mission India organised an interactive session with successful women entrepreneurs from America where the participants were apprised of entrepreneurship skills and how to succeed in business.

He said the US Mission was involved in various programmes in India from climate change to social activities as part of its bilateral relations with the country.

TiE trustee B. Murali said the programme exposes the participants to successful women entrepreneurs where they share their knowledge and help the aspiring women to become entrepreneurs. Mentors Komal Goyal and Kanchana Raman and District Collector K. Amrapali wished the participants best. The Collector said women faced many challenges in business. SR Educational Society chairman Varada Reddy said he was happy to host the programme and said they would extend all the cooperation for the success of the workshop.
