Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply & Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) on Tuesday sought to assure residents of the twin cities that there was sufficient drinking water available within its water sources, to tide over the summer season. Board MD M. Dana Kishore, who held a meeting with top officials said there are no issues in supplying water in the coming months and directed the general managers to come up with action plans for their respective areas.
He called upon commercial and residential complexes to compulsorily take up rain water harvesting structures, or else supply of water through tankers to business dwellings would be halted and double the fee would be charged to households from May 1 onwards, he warned. An engineers’ panel has submitted a report on RWHs where it has recommended that all government buildings should build one and the same will be conveyed to the higher authorities. Mr. Kishore also announced the extension of the last date for receipt of applications from colonies, residential welfare associations for building model RWHs, to March 17. About 57 villages within Outer Ring Road (ORR) will be provided with water supply from this month-end, he added, according to a press release.
