Volvo bus gutted, passengers safe

A private bus was gutted in a fire accident that took place at Chiragpally in Medak district in the early hours of Monday.

According to Zaheerabad Circle Inspector S. Laksminarayana, the bus belonging to BGR Travels proceeding towards Hyderabad from Mumbai with about 40 passengers caught fire. One Srinu, a road repair worker, noticed smoke emanating from the rear side of the bus and alerted the driver.

He stopped the bus and all the passengers alighted immediately after which the bus got gutted completely. However, no casualties were reported.

Fire servicemen rushed to the spot to douse the flames and alternative arrangements were made to transport passengers to Hyderabad.

A press release from the BGR Travels said that this was an isolated incident and further details about the accident were awaited.
