“Kavitha had been staying with her mother-in-law for the last three years, as her husband had deserted her.

Eshwar was staying with another woman, and Kavitha wanted custody of their three daughters,” said B. Sumathi, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), north zone.

She added that the exact motive behind the murder is yet to be ascertained and that it is suspected that Chandramma may have informed Eshwar that she and Kavitha would be at the Begumpet PS .

Ms. Sumathi added that Kavitha had been working as a house-keeping staff at the Taj Vivanta hotel and that she had found a new job at another hotel in Miyapur after that.

Eshwar, who was booked for the assault, is still absconding. Kavitha’s father, who sustained head injuries, is in a serious condition.

He and her brother are undergoing treatment at Osmania General Hospital (OGH).
