Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojana (SAANJHI) director Kushal Pathak said that Veernapalli village in Yellareddypet mandal ranks number one in Telangana and also finds a place in the top 50 villages in India, in the development of the village with ‘A plus’ marks.

Mr. Pathak and project directors Satish Ranjan Sinha and Amit Jain visited the interior Veernapalli village on Thursday as part of the inspection. This village was once a naxalite bastion and produced several naxalites, earning a dubious distinction. Due to the violence, there was no development.

After the village was adopted by Karimnagar MP B. Vinod Kumar, the village made rapid strides in development, with the involvement of all sections of society.

The central team toured the village and interacted with the residents by holding a grama sabha. They appreciated the efforts of the villagers in the development of the village. The team visited the school, village tank, grameena bank, and shops.

The Karimnagar MP took measures for the removal of illicitly distilled liquor (IDL) in the village and rehabilitation by providing self-employment scheme to the people who were involved in the same. The villagers were provided with loans amounting to Rs. 4 crore for various economic activities, who also deposited Rs. 1.9 crore in the bank. Mr. Kumar also launched the adult education programme for making all the villagers literate. Minister for IT and Municipal Administration K. Taraka Rama Rao, TSCOB chairman K. Ravinder Rao, Karimnagar Dairy chairman Ch. Rajeshwara Rao, and Collector Neetu Prasad, among others, were also present.
