Veteran green crusader Daripalli Ramaiah has expressed his desire to plant a sapling in the Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi and continue his tree plantation drive with renewed vigour in his native Khammam district and elsewhere in Telangana.

The 70-year-old man, popularly known as Vanajeevi Ramaiah among nature lovers, is scheduled to receive the prestigious Padma Shri award from President Pranab Mukherjee at a ceremony in the national capital on March 30.

Speaking to newsmen in Khammam on Monday afternoon before leaving for New Delhi, Mr. Ramaiah said that he will submit a representation to the authorities concerned for printing images of sapling plantation on currency notes to provide a major impetus to tree plantation campaign across the country.
