Vaccination survey in Khammam from today

September 28, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:50 am IST - KHAMMAM:

The stage is set for a house-to-house survey all over the district from Monday to identify the exact number of children aged below two-years, who are either not vaccinated or partially vaccinated, for bringing them under immunisation cover as part of the ensuing week-long ‘Mission Indradhanush’ programme slated to be implemented from October 7.

The government agencies concerned have drawn up an action plan to engage the services of adequate number of ANMs, Anganwadi workers and volunteers for the survey in view of the ongoing strike by the Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHAs), who constitute the core of the field functionaries in the public healthcare system, sources said.

The action plan has been formulated to ensure successful implementation of Mission Indradhanush, the Central government’s flagship programme, to immunise all children and pregnant women. The plan envisages collection and compilation of data pertaining to the target group as part of the house-hold survey, followed by implementation of the immunisation drive.

A workshop has already been conducted to familiarise the ANMs and other staff concerned with the relevant procedures for the implementation of Mission Indradhanush, said B. Venkateshwar Rao, District Immunisation Officer, Khammam.

The children those identified during the survey will be vaccinated against seven vaccine preventable diseases as stipulated by the Mission Indradhanush from October 7 to 13.

The Pentavalent and Japanese Encephalitis vaccines will also be administered during the week-long special immunisation drive, he added.

Focus will be laid on the temporary tribal settlements, brick kilns and the far flung areas in the district during the immunisation campaign.
