Two persons were killed and four others - including a police head constable - were injured when a lorry collided with a jeep near VV Palem village in Raghunadhapalem mandal on Saturday. According to the police, the jeep was heading towards Charla in Bhadradri-Kothagudem district when the incident took place.
A Khammam-bound lorry collided with the jeep, resulting in the instantaneous death of the driver and a woman passenger. The other occupants of the jeep, including J. Papa Rao, a head constable attached to the Khammam one-town police station, his wife, daughter and son sustained injuries.
The driver was identified as Veera Reddy of Cheruvumadharam in Nelakondapalli mandal. Sources said the deceased woman was the head constable’s daughter-in-law.
