Adilabad witnessed robbery in two houses in the small hours of Sunday, baffling the police over the continuing spate of thefts in town. Three offenders broke into the houses and snatched 13 tolas of gold and Rs. 30,000 in cash.

According to the police, three masked offenders broke into the house of Penuganti Narasimha Rao near the New Housing Board Colony at 2.30 a.m. and threatened the inmates with a knife. They were tied and gagged before the burglars escaped to commit another offence at Rao’s relative, Mamidiwar Sham Rao, who lives a few furlongs away.

The burglars broke into the house of the second victim but beat him up as he tried to offer some resistance.

Superintendent of Polie Gajarao Bhupal visited the scenes of offence.
