“TS, AP Chief Ministers creating political chaos to divert people’s attention”

June 29, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:42 am IST - NIZAMABAD:

CPI MLA Ravindra Naik accused the Chief Ministers of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh of trying to divert the attention of people from their failures by creating political chaos.

Demanding AP Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu to step down from his position as he was facing bribery charges, he said if the former proved his innocence in cash-for-vote scam, he could again assume the post. “Till then, he [Naidu] has no right to continue in the office,” he said.

Addressing a press conference here on Sunday, Mr. Naik said that it was unfair on part of the TRS chief to take an MLA elected from other party into his Cabinet. Unfortunately, both the Chief Ministers were involved in horse trading for their political survival which was undemocratic, he said.

Finding fault with Mr. Naidu for insisting on the implementation of Section 8 of the AP Reorganisation Act, he said that the demand at this point was untenable. “If Mr. Naidu is found guilty in cash-for-vote scam, then he should be arrested,” he said.

Reeling out promises made by TS Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao during general elections, Mr. Naik said that Mr. Rao failed to fulfil even a single promise even 13 months after he formed the government. To fulfil his promise of distributing three acres of land to each Dalit landless family, the government needs to purchase at least 21 lakh acres of land. However, only 2,000 acres of land was distributed to about 950 Dalit families so far, he said.

Other promises like two-bedroom houses to the poor and massive employment generation were still to be fulfilled, he said adding that his party would launch agitations on July 3 and 4 to press for these demands.
