‘TRS govt taking credit for Central schemes’

BJP demands white paper on Telangana government’s share in welfare programmes

May 29, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:44 am IST - KARIMNAGAR:

Alleging that the Telangana government was claiming the Union government’s welfare programmes as their own popular schemes, BJP Kisan Morcha national general secretary P Sugunakar Rao has demanded that the State government release a white paper on its share in the implementation of the welfare programme such as Individual Sanitary Latrine (ISL), Asara pensions, NREGS etc. Talking to newsmen here on Saturday, he ridiculed the State government for taking credit for the Union government’s welfare schemes and demanded the State government should disclose its contribution in the implementation of the schemes. Though the Indradanush vaccination programme was the Union government’s programme, the TRS leaders were claiming it as their own welfare scheme, he said.

Financial assistance

Reminding that the BJP government had alone provided financial assistance of Rs 791 crore to the Telangana government, he found fault with the TRS government for not taking up drought relief works in any district and alleged that the State government was diverting the funds meant for drought relief works. He also said that the Union government was funding gram panchayats directly following allegations of diversion of funds meant for the development of villages by the State government.

Highlighting the achievements of two years of BJP government at the Centre, he said that the BJP had planned to revive the closed Fertilizer Corporation of India as Ramagundam Fertilizer Corporation Limited (RFCL) and was also planning to generate additional 4,000 MWs of power at the NTPC Ramagundam to provide power to Telangana. He also said that the Centre was also planning for navigation facilities on the Godavari in the district. BJP leaders T Harikumar Goud, K. Odelu, K Srinivas Reddy were also present.
