Nurturing an ambition of joining the police, 23-year-old polytechnic diploma holder Omkar of Mallaram in Thallada mandal descends on the sprawling Sardar Patel stadium at the crack of the dawn to undergo a rigorous physical fitness training session under the supervision of expert trainers.
Omkar is among dozens of youngsters toiling hard for nearly three hours every day, enduring humid weather in peak summer at the stadium to realise their dream of entering into the uniformed service.
While some of them are aspiring for Sub-Inspector posts, others are aiming to become Constables in the Telangana State police force.
Physical efficiency test
After successfully clearing the preliminary written tests held separately for the SI and Constable posts by the Telangana State-Level Police Recruitment Board (TSLPRB) in April this year, the youngsters hailing from various parts of the district are gearing up to emerge triumphant in the physical efficiency test to be held soon.
They have been camping in the town for the same.
“Thanks to the expert training by some retired police officials, I have acquired the requisite skills to maintain physical fitness and excel in the stipulated physical events,” says Omkar, an aspirant of Constable post, who is undergoing training at the town-based Spoorthi Institute of Competitive Exams.
“I am grateful to our division unit of Lions Club for sponsoring my coaching,” he said.
“The expert training being imparted to us by some retired police personnel is proving to be of immense help in boosting our confidence levels,” says Veera Reddy, a police Constable aspiring to become a Sub-Inspector.
More than 50 candidates are undergoing physical fitness training in the morning session at Sardar Patel stadium and coaching for the main written test under the supervision of expert faculty in the afternoon session at Spoorthi.
