“Ghusadi ta do enthi toha, Ghusadi ta do yenda vara...” The Ghusadi song sung in Gondi dialect in which the Dandari dancers request the Ghusarks, wearing peacock feather hats, to dance gracefully, rented the air in remote Chittal Bori village in rural Adilabad mandal on Sunday.
This is how the festival season for Adivasi and Kolam tribes commences in the district, post harvest.
Every Gond village or hamlet forms two different dance troupes called Dandari and Ghusadi.
The Dandari team, which could be even 30 member strong, sports white dhoti and shirt while four or five Ghusarks in the Ghusadi team wear a hat made of peacock feathers with their faces painted and carry a pestle which is considered sacred.
The Ghusarks represent Gods and are revered by the common tribal people all through the period in which they don their typical attire. The Gonds and Kolams seek their wellbeing from their own Ghusadi and from those who come visiting to their village during the season.
