Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) floor leader in the State Assembly, Dr. K. Lakshman, lashed out at the ruling Telangana Rastra Samithi government for its failure in dealing with drought.
Speaking to news reporters during his visit to drought-hit areas in the district here on Wednesday, Mr. Lakshman said the government had concentrated only on projects like Mission Kakatiya, irrigation projects which are beneficial in the long-run. He urged Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao to initiate some effective short-term measures to support farming during the time of crisis.
Mr. Lakshman and his team visited Velugupally, Mushampally and other villages located near Nalgonda. He visited the 1.5 acre dried up lemon orchard that belongs to Gundagoni Chandraiah at Velugupally. Later, he proceeded to Mushampally and met the family members of tenant farmer, Iguru Chiranjivi, who committed suicide three days ago. He noted down the details of Chiranjivi’s family. The BJP floor leader also visited the dried paddy field of Dekkala Dasaradha. Earlier, addressing a press meet at R&B guest house in Nalgonda town, he termed 12 per cent reservation to Muslims as unconstitutional. Instead, he asked the TRS government to support reservation based on economical status, but not on religion. Kishan Morcha, State president, Goli Madhusudhan Reddy, district president, Veerelli Chandrasekhar, vice-president, Sambaiah and others were also present.
