The victims of tainted cop ASI Mohan Reddy have alleged that the suspended cop was having links with the slain gangster Nayeemuddin alias Nayeem. They alleged that Mohan Reddy had used the Nayeem gang in the land settlements in various parts of Karimnagar district.
Talking to newsmen here on Friday, ASI Mohan Badithula Sangham president Musuku Mahender Reddy said that the Special Investigation Team (SIT) constituted by the Government to probe into Nayeem gang’s illegal activities should also probe into the role of ASI Mohan Reddy’s illegal financial business and snatching away of precious lands belonging to the farmers in the district.
He said that the victims of Mohan Reddy had decided to meet the SIT chief and north zone IG Y. Nagi Reddy and submit the details pertaining to snatching of lands belonging to the farmers.
He alleged that Mohan Reddy adopted the same modus operandi as that of Nayeem and snatched land holdings of the farmers at gun-point. Referring to the recent suicide of victim Ch. Narayan Reddy in the town unable to bear the harassment of Mohan Reddy, he said that the cop had threatened the family members and ensured that they changed their stand on the complaint.
Initially, the family members lodged a complaint with the police stating that Narayan Reddy committed suicide due to harassment by Mohan Reddy. Within hours, Mohan Reddy threatened the family members and forced them to give a complaint that Narayan Reddy committed suicide unable to bear stomach-ache, he stated.
Urging the Government to conduct forensic inquiry into the suicide note of Narayan Reddy, he wanted it to intensify the investigation into 42 criminal cases registered against tainted cop dealing with several hundreds of crores of illegal financial business at gun-point.
Another victim B. Laxmi threatened to commit suicide in front of the house of Mohan Reddy if the Government failed to arrest and punish the accused Mohan Reddy, who had snatched away her precious lands and caused death of her husband due to heart-attack following his threatening.
Lok Satta leader R. Chandra Prabhakar found fault with the political parties for not responding to the plight of the victims.
He alleged that Mohan Reddy, who had come out of jail on bail, was terrorizing the victims to withdraw cases. Communist Party of India town president P. Raju and other victims were also present.
