The State government is planning to set up a regional centre of the Telangana Academy of Skill and Knowledge (TASK) in Warangal to help improve the human resource here.

MLA D. Vinay Bhaskar addressing a meeting of the TASK here on Saturday, has said there were some 30 colleges of engineering, including those offering MCA and MBA producing close to 30,000 students per year. These students could be made more employable by equipping them with required skills.

He said IT Minister K T Rama Rao had consented to set up the regional centre in Warangal for the benefit of educated unemployed youth in the district.

Skill sets

At a meeting here, a team of officials from TASK, including CEO Sujiv Nair, interacted with the local industrialists, representatives of various companies and sought to know the kind of skills they were looking for the candidate they wanted to recruit.

The representatives explained the various requirements they have in their companies and listed out the required skills.

Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao was of the opinion that the youth of a particular area should be able to get employment within the local companies, Mr. Nair said. “We are in Warangal to understand the needs of the companies and the opportunities they provide for the local youth. There is a general misconception that there are no jobs for the youth,” he added.

Soft skills training

There were 75,000 jobs listed out in the TASK website. Most of the youth lack basic skills like communication and inter-personal relations. The TASK would be providing them.

He further suggested that if the local companies could provide internships or apprenticeship, the youth could utilise this opportunity to develop their skills while getting exposure to the work environment.

MLA Dasyam Vinay Bhaskar said they were taking steps to open the regional training centre by next month. He said the Textile Park which would soon come up in Warangal would create 10,000 direct and 15,000 indirect employment opportunities. He appealed to the youth to utilise the services of TASK and build their bright future.
