People of Nalgonda district never got this luckier, but under the present Telangana Rashtra Samithi government they are experiencing development like never before, said Minister for Irrigation and Marketing T. Harish Rao.

The Marketing Minister on Sunday opened the State’s first and exclusive lemon market at Nakrekal, and a sweet lime market for farmers here in Nalgonda. “A realisation of two-decade long dream of citrus growers here, now set for a wonderful future,” he said. Cold storages and food processing units would be studied for sanction in the district, to add value to farmers’ produce, he assured.

Taking a dig at the Congressmen, the Minister said farmers in particular and the public in general in the district were utterly ignored. The district saw minimal progress for decades. “Within four years, we gave you exclusive markets for Ivy gourd, sweet lime, lemon, better and more godowns, and efficient water management system,” he said. While the Congress leaders gave the people fluorosis, the TRS is making efforts to provide clean and safe drinking water through Mission Bhagiratha, and the Dindi Lift Irrigation Scheme spending nearly ₹6,200 crore was in progress, he added.

Minister for Energy and SC Development G. Jagadish Reddy commenting on previous government, said the Congressmen had become a laughing stock as everyone was a Chief Minister candidate, but none appreciated development. Likening the Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao’s rule in the State to Ramarajyam, TRS party in-charge K. Bhupal Reddy said the Ravana in Nalgonda will see the end soon.

Nalgonda MP Gutha Sukhender Reddy, Bhongir MP Bura Narsaiah Goud, Rajya Sabha MP B. Lingaiah Yadav, and others were present.
