Electricity Minister G. Jagadeeswar Reddy on Sunday said that State would become power surplus after two years and even if in case of severe shortage in generation the government would take necessary steps to avoid power cuts in the current summer.
Attributing the bad situation in power supply to the lack of vision of the previous governments, he said the Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao had accorded top priority to electricity generation as it was a critical input for the economy. For Yellareddy Assembly constituency alone Rs.32 crore was allocated to construct as many as 11, 33/11 kv sub-stations in the coming two years, he said.
Addressing a public meeting at Lakshmapur in the constituency after laying foundation to a sub-station on Sunday, he said the government was striving hard to strike a balance between welfare and development. It sanctioned Rs.200 crore to the constituency for laying roads and Rs.60 crore for the execution of Mission Kakatiya this year, he said.
Referring to the ‘Our Village Our Plan’ scheme, Mr. Jagadeeswar Reddy felt that unless people participated in it the scheme would not be a success as they need to carry out the identified works on priority basis. During his whirlwind tour the Minister laid foundations to sub-stations at Gopalpet, Gandi Masanipet and Gandhari.
The local MLA Enugu Ravinder Reddy accompanied him all through the tour and Minister for Agriculture Pocharam Srinivas Reddy joined him at Gandhari mandal headquarters.
