Collector takes up School Bell to motivate stake-holders

February 14, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 09:02 am IST - KARIMNAGAR:

The Karimnagar district administration is gearing up its entire Education Department machinery and leaving no stone unturned to ensure that the district ranks number one in the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examinations, which are scheduled to be held from March 21.

In undivided Andhra Pradesh, Karimnagar stood first in the SSC pass percentage in 2011 and 2012 respectively. However, it slipped to the sixth rank in separate Telangana State in the March 2015 examinations.

In order to regain its lost glory, Collector Neetu Prasad took up an ambitious programme called ‘School Bell’ (badi ganta) to gear up the Educational Department, and chalked out various programmes to ensure 100 per cent pass percentage in the SSC examinations to regain the top spot in Telangana. Accordingly, the Collector conducted an orientation programme for all the headmasters of government schools and empowered them about the importance of SSC examination in students’ lives.

Following the instructions of Ms. Prasad, DEO S. Srinivasa Chary also accorded priority for improving the results. Accordingly, he motivated the teachers to launch a wake up call for the students by calling their parents early morning and ensure that students attended the morning special classes. Further, the government schools also launched the evening classes that run till 8 p.m. for the benefit of students.

With the support of philanthropists, the schools are providing evening snacks to the students and conducting special classes and clearing all doubts that the students may have. The headmasters have involved the parents of students by motivating them to wake their child up early for study hours and stop watching television in their presence.

Buoyed over the successful implementation of the action plan to improve SSC results, the Collector has also written personal letters to all the headmasters and teachers appreciating their efforts. She also thanked the philanthropists for coming forward and providing snacks to the poor students of government schools.
