irrigation Minister T. Harish Rao on Wednesday said a Rs. 300 crore special package will be sought from Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao to complete the medium irrigation projects in Adilabad district. He said Adilabad and Khammam districts had the maximum number of incomplete projects in entire Telangana.
Addressing newsmen here after reviewing progress of Mission Kakatiya, the Irrigation Minister said Adilabad had incomplete projects in the shape of Neelwai, Satnala, Swarna, P.P. Rao and Vattivagu. These projects will be taken up under the proposed special package, he added.
Talking about Mission Kakatiya works, Mr. Rao said the first phase works under the programme have helped stabilise 76,000 acres ayacut in the district. Repairs to minor irrigation tanks and canals etc have brought an additional 30,000 acres under irrigation besides the 30,000 acres brought under irrigation through Japanese aid.
Earlier, reviewing the development in Mission Kakatiya with officials, the Minister said Adilabad stood first among all districts in Telangana in terms of land acquisition for projects.
