Six die of sunstroke

Though there was some relief in the morning on Thursday with cloudy sky, the temperatures soared in the district after that.

The sunstroke deaths continued with five more reported from the district today. The deceased were identified as Lakshmaiah (70) at Andol, Madar (55) at Dharmaram in Ramayampet mandal, Srinivasachary, Ameena Begum (62) and Ramulamma (65).

One dies in Adilabad

Special Correspondent from Adilabad adds: One person succumbed to the prevailing heat wave in Adilabad on Thursday though unconfirmed reports put the death toll due to sunstroke during the day at four.

Sixty-year-old Teegala Narsaiah died at Karimnagar while undergoing treatment for sunstroke symptoms he developed last night.

He had worked in a field in hot sun collecting fodder the previous day.
