In a tragic incident, six schoolchildren drowned when they went for a swim in the Lower Manair Dam (LMD) reservoir on the outskirts of Karimnagar on Monday.

Police sources said that Pradhyunma (11), Gopi (14), twins Soumith (8) and Sumith (8), Sai Srujan (14) and Shiva Sai (13) went from their grandparents’ house in Sapthagiri colony in the town on the pretext of playing cricket and reached the LMD shores to have a swim. After entering into the deep waters, they drowned.

When the children did not return for long hours, panic stricken parents started searching for them and found their clothes on the LMD shores.
