The Konijerla police on Tuesday cracked the Friday night’s gang rape case by arresting all the six accused involved in the rape of a 15-year-old minor tribal girl.

The gruesome incident, in which two separate gangs abducted and raped the minor girl at different locations in Konijerla mandal and on the outskirts of Khammam, on Friday night, triggered a public outcry in the entire district.

Two of the accused allegedly raped the girl in a vehicle at two separate places in a span of four hours near Khammam.

The Konijerla police nabbed three accused in the mandal headquarters and the remaining three on the outskirts of Konijerla on Tuesday afternoon.

The police team led by Konijerla SI P Karunakar seized a motorbike and the vehicle used by the two gangs in the offence.

Wyra in-charge DSP Kavitha produced the accused involved in the gang rape case before the media in Konijerla on Tuesday evening.

The arrested include Ramlakshman, Muneeshwar Rao, Upender, Murali, Rambabu and Chandar Babu. The accused are in the age group of 20-25 years.

Two of them are lorry drivers and one is a student, said Wyra CI K Satish Chander Rao.

A case under Section 5 (g) of the POCSO Act and other relevant sections of the IPC has been registered against the six accused, he said.
