SCCL produces 54.6 MT coal so far this fiscal

Company has posted growth in all areas of its operations

The Singareni Collieries Company Ltd (SCCL) has posted growth in all areas of its operations – coal production, dispatches and removal of over burden during the first 11 months of the current financial year compared to the same period in the last fiscal.

The company has achieved a growth of 1% in coal production, 7.2% in coal dispatches and 25% in over burden removal. According the officials, the company has produced 54.6 million tonnes of coal till February-end of 2017-18, while it was 54.1 million tonnes during the same period of 2016-17. Total production during the last financial year was 61.34 million tonnes.

Overburden removed

In coal dispatches, transportation of the produced coal to the companies customers in different parts of the country, Singareni has dispatched 58.2 million tonnes of coal till the completion of 11 months of the current fiscal, while it was 54.3 million tonnes during the corresponding period of 2016-17. The total dispatches during the last financial year were 60.84 million tonnes.

Coming to the removal of over burden (OB), the public sector coal company has achieved comparably high growth as 357 million cubic meters of OB was removed till February-end as against 286 million cubic meters of OB in the first 11 months of the last fiscal. The total OB removal was 315 million cubic meters during the last financial year.

Achieve targets

Chairman and Managing Director of SCCL N. Sridhar stated that the company is well on course to achieve the targets in all key areas of its operations this financial year.

In terms of the performance for February month, the company has produced 6.26 million tonnes of coal this year against the production of 5.86 million tonnes last year. Similarly, the OB removal was 37.8 million cubic meters this February against 31.2 million cubic meters OB removed in last February.
