Ring road for Khammam at Rs 180 crore planned

A detailed project report (DPR) for construction of a ring road around Khammam town at an estimated cost of Rs 180 crore has been submitted to the Central government for its nod, said Minister for Roads and Buildings T Nageswara Rao.

The Minister, accompanied by Khammam MLA P Ajay Kumar, and Collector D S Lokesh Kumar, inspected the process of release of water from the NSP canal into the historic Lakkaram tank here on Saturday evening.

Talking to media persons on the occasion, the Minister said Rs 13.50 crore had been spent on restoration of the Lakkaram tank so far.

The remaining work would be completed in a speedy manner to restore the tank fully, he said, adding that the periphery of the tank would be beautified.

The Velugumatla Forest block near Khammam would be developed on the lines of the KBR Park in Hyderabad. The foundation stone for the road-over-bridge at Dwamsalapuram would be laid here soon, he said.
