RGIA police arrest Nayeem’s associate

August 20, 2016 03:43 am | Updated 03:43 am IST - HYDERABAD:

The RGIA Airport police on Friday arrested an associate of gangster Nayeem at Satamrai village in Shamshabad mandal. Faiyaz, the accused, was found moving in a suspicious manner and had a Tapancha (country made revolver) in his possession.

According to M. Mahesh, Inspector, RGIA Airport police station, Faiyaz was a driver of Nayeem, who was killed in an encounter some days ago. “He is a resident of Miryalguda, Nalgonda district, and was Nayeem’s second driver. He has been remanded after arrest,” he added. The accused was booked under the Arms Act.

Probe sought

Former High Court Judge, B. Chandra Kumar, on Friday demanded that the government launch an investigation into the affairs concerning gangster Nayeem by a team of senior officers, if not by the CBI. At a press conference here, under the banner of the newly-formed Telangana Praja Vedika, he criticised the way an officer of the rank of a Deputy-Inspector General was now probing the murky dealings of the gangster who was shot dead by police recently. He wondered when an officer of the rank of Director-General was involved, how could such a probe be fair. “The government says the investigating agencies had in their possession Nayeem’s diary, some compact discs with vital evidence of his dealings and all. If that were true, what prevented the government from taking action earlier?” he asked.
