Reach out to unhappy leaders, KCR tells Ministers

A meeting of the Cabinet immediately after its expansion saw the Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao asking the Ministers to involve unhappy TRS MLAs in government programmes.

Noting that some MLAs who were left out in the expansion were not happy, Mr. Rao asked the Ministers to see that the legislators took active part in the programmes grounded by the government. He also asked the Ministers to discharge their duties as a team in a free and fair manner.

Sources said Mr. Rao gave a detailed account of the upcoming government programmes, including water grid, restoration of tanks, improvement of roads, green belt and slum free Hyderabad. He informed them about the problems of the government on the power front.

Mr. Rao discussed the need for appointment of experts from various fields in the State planning board whose vice-chairman S. Niranjan Reddy assumed office today. He spoke about amendments to preventive detention laws to fit into the present circumstances.

The new Minister, Tummala Nageswara Rao, told media persons after the meeting that the Chief Minister asked them to work for the fulfilment of needs and aspirations of the people of Telangana.

He said Mr. Rao explained the backwardness of Telangana sector-wise. Mr. Rao stressed the need to plug loopholes in the implementation of welfare programmes.

Additional subjects to two Ministers

Meanwhile, Excise and Forest Ministers T. Padma Rao and Jogu Ramanna have been allotted additional subjects following the expansion of the Cabinet on Tuesday. While Mr. Rao will handle sports and youth services, Mr. Ramanna has been allocated backward classes welfare, a government order said.
