Maharashtra Governor Ch Vidyasagar Rao has presented the Rangineni Yellamma Literary Award - 2017 to Sunkereddy Narayan Reddy, for his book ‘Thaavu” (collection of poems) at a programme in Ragudu village on the outskirts of Sircilla textile town on Monday.

The award was instituted by Rangineni Sujatha Mohan Rao educational and charitable trust, Radugu village.The governor also released two books “Badi pillala kathala Vagu” and “Kavithala Singidi”, produced by the Rangineni trust.

The Governor said the Sircilla region had attained distinction for literary activities, having produced the eminent poet Dr. C. Narayana Reddy, who also won the Jnanpith award.

He also recollected that the literature and songs played a crucial role in the Telangana Statehood movement. He complimented the Rangineni Charitable Trust founder Mohan Rao for his charity programmes and literary activities. ZP chairperson Tula Uma, MLC Naradasu Laxman Rao, Collector D. Krishna Bhaskar, SP Vishwajit K and others were also present.
