Rains wreak havoc on Karimnagar

Unseasonal rains in various parts of Karimnagar District on Tuesday and Wednesday wreaked havoc causing extensive loss to the farming community with various crops getting damaged.

The rains lashed Karimnagar, Manakondur, Vemulawada, Choppadandi, Chandurthi, Saidapur, Huzurabad and other mandals from the wee hours of Wednesday. The rains had also caused extensive damage in Jagtial Division on Tuesday night with some trees getting uprooted, electric poles, damage to poultry sheds and small huts.

Mango crop hit

Power supply was affected in several villages in the Jagtial Division following the uprooting of electric poles. The mango crop faced the brunt of the devastation due to rains with fully grown mangoes falling on ground in the rains and hailstorm. Similarly, the paddy, banana, papaya, maize, til and vegetable crops were also damaged.

In Karimnagar town, the rains had inundated several low-lying areas.
