The 10-day-long dry spell ended in some parts of Adilabad district on Monday as brief, but strong spells of rain brought the much-awaited relief to farmers and others. The rainfall helped resuscitate the dying crops in some places thereby saving a few crores of rupees for the already beleaguered farming community.

Rainfall occurred at several places in Adilabad and Asifabad Revenue divisions, and it varied in intensity.

It also looked like the entire district will be covered by the rains in the night.

Rainfall occurred at Bejjur, Koutala, Sirpur (T), Kagaznagar and Asifabad in Asifabad Division.

In Adilabad, rains lashed Adilabad, Gudihatnoor and Ichoda mandals besides, some villages in Utnoor revenue division.

The Pushkar ghats along the banks of river Godavari however, did not receive rainfall until evening.

However doubts are being expressed with regard to availability of water in the river as a spell of rain may not bring water into the river for the mega event.

Special Correspondent from Karimnagar adds: Sudden downpour in various parts of Karimnagar district on Monday afternoon bought much sought-after relief from the prevailing sweltering heat wave conditions.

Farm activity

The temperature had down drastically following the rains. The rains had also bought much relief to the farming community, who were eagerly waiting to take up farm activities.

The rains also inundated several low-lying areas in Karimnagar and Vemulawada. The rains were also reported from various mandals in the district.
