Probe into ‘misuse’ of PACS funds

August 01, 2015 12:00 am | Updated March 29, 2016 12:26 pm IST - ADILABAD:

A scam related with misuse of money in the Kerameri Primary Agriculture Cooperative Society, Adilabad district, surfaced on Friday following an inquiry by higher officials into the allegations of misappropriation by its Chief Executive Officer B. Prakash.

He had allegedly misused over Rs. 5 lakh which came in as farmers repaid their old crop loans in order to avail fresh loans.

According to sources, the inquiry was ordered after scores of farmers raised protests when they were denied fresh crop loans despite having cleared old dues. Instead of being credited into respective crop loan accounts, the money was allegedly used by the CEO for personal purpose, sources said.
