Opposition provoking land oustees: KTR

June 24, 2016 12:00 am | Updated October 18, 2016 03:12 pm IST - KARIMNAGAR:

Minister K. Taraka Rama Rao has alleged that the Opposition parties are unnecessarily politicising the construction of irrigation projects by provoking land oustees.

“The projects would be constructed only after acquiring land from the oustees. As lakhs of people stand to benefit, some people have to sacrifice their lands for the cause of society,” he maintained.

He participated in various developmental works in his Sircilla Assembly segment in Yellareddypet mandal on Thursday.

Speaking at Yellareddypet agricultural marketyard in Racharla Boppapur village, he said that the State Government took up construction of irrigation projects to make drought-like situations a thing of the past.

He said that Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao knows the problems of land oustees as he too lost lands in the construction of projects. Mr. Rao said that his family members have also lost their lands in the Mid Manair Dam project in Karimnagar district.

He advised the Opposition parties to give constructive suggestions to the government for suitable rehabilitation of the land oustees of Mallannasagar project instead of politicising the issue.

Reiterating that the State Government is committed to the welfare of farmers, he said that they would soon release third instalment of crop loan waiver amount.
