Commemorating the first birthday of their child, an NRI couple donated two air coolers to the inmates of Athidhi Mentally Challenged Home in Hanamkonda on Wednesday.

Mr. Vijay Kumar and Deepti celebrated their child’s birthday differently by buying two air coolers worth Rs. 8,000 for the children at the Home making a little difference to their lives. “I felt this is fitting gift now as temperature is soaring making the lives miserable to people. These little children will get some relief from the scorching sun,” said Mr. Vijay Kumar.

The programme was facilitated by Sulaskhya Seva Samithi, a group of youngsters who have been in the social service. Noted poet Banna Ilaiah was the chief guest at the event. He appreciated the gesture of NRI couple and Samithi efforts.

Mr Ilaiah said that he knew the samithi has been doing a series of charity programmes and exhorted youth to draw inspiration from it and replicate the same brining joy to less privileged.

Samithi founder president Santhosh Manduva said that they have been acting as bridge between generous and under privileged in the society. They could motivate and generate funds for many programmes for the past two years.

Samithi members Suraj, Athidhi, Sujatha and others were present on the occasion.
