The residents of Vemulaghat village in Toguta mandal, who are facing displacement due to submergence of their village in the proposed Mallannasagar reservoir, were shocked to find official notices that were addressed to them in a dustbin near the Sub-Jail in the district headquarters on Friday.

“We do not know how it happened but it is shocking. How did the notices that were meant to be delivered to us in our village wind up in this dustbin. Is this the value attached to these notices?” Hayatuddin, a resident of Vemulaghat who is one of those leading the ongoing agitation, asked.

The agitated residents of Vemulaghat uploaded the photos of notice copies found in the dustbin and a video in social media and it has gone viral.

Shocked by the incident, the residents facing displacement submitted a memorandum to Siddipet Revenue Divisional Officer, who is also Special Deputy Collector, Land Acquisition, Kaleswaram Project, urging him to take action against those responsible for the notices finding their way to the dustbin. “As the notices have landed up in the dustbin how can we be sure that the officials will not attach the same value to the inquiry on objections scheduled to be conducted on January 23rd and 24th?” the villagers asked.

Siddipet RDO A. Muthyam Reddy was not reachable for comment.
