No giving in to pressure: says KCR

May 03, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:46 am IST - KARIMNAGAR:

Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao has reiterated that his government won’t succumb to any pressure from any quarter and take up and complete projects across the Godavari and the Krishna to utilise Telangana’s rightful share of 1,300 TMC ft of water in the two rivers.

Referring indirectly to the protest proposed by YSR Congress chief Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy against Palamuru-Ranga Reddy lift irrigation project, he reminded the YSR Congress leader that the Telangan region was allocated 1,300 TMC ft of water share in the two rivers when it was part of combined Andhra Pradesh.

‘Legitimate rights’

Mr. Rao said the Telangana government was taking up projects as per the allocations made in united AP. “Come what may, we will complete all projects planned to utilise the allocated water and no force can stop us”, he asserted.

He said that the Telangana movement was born out of the demand for the legitimate rights of the region’s people in river waters, resources and employment.
