No move to hike RTC fares: Minister

Transport Minister P. Mahender Reddy has said that the Cabinet will take a view on absorption of Road Transport Corporation in Telangana with the State government.

Talking to mediapersons after assuming charge of his portfolio at the Secretariat on Sunday, Mr. Reddy said there was no move to hike the fares of RTC though they were less than in other States. He also said the government will take steps to connect every village in Telangana with a bus service. The government will study opening new bus depots besides modernising existing ones.

The Irrigation and Legislative Affairs Minister T. Harish Rao who also assumed office today said the government will try to run the Assembly in a meaningful manner when it commences its first session on Monday. The government will see to it that the members raised meaningful issues. A task force will be set up for the implementation of Pranahita – Chevella project. The government will strive for national status to the project. He also said the government will work for making Telangana the seed bowl of the country. Farmers will be encouraged to sell seed anywhere in the country.
