No guarantee that any applicant will have visa application approved

I attended H4 visa interview at the Hyderabad consulate in February 2016. I was given a 221(G) with no case number or any other detail, and was told that I will hear in two weeks. Can I know how long my case will be under administrative processing?

Nandini Bhatta

The time required for administrative processing varies from case-to-case. You can track the status of your case at ceac.state.gov. In addition, you can contact the call centre at the email address provided above for other inquiries.

I hold a H1B visa valid until November 2016. I went to the Hyderabad Consulate in January 2016. My case was kept under administrative processing with 221G. I received an email asking me to provide supporting documents for further processing. I have sent an email with all requested supporting documents to both support-india@ustraveldocs.com

and HYDFPU@state.gov. I haven't received any update even after 90 days. Would you please advise what the better approach to follow up would be and get a proper update about my case?

Suresh

Administrative processing is a routine step that many applications are required to undergo before a final decision can be made. Unfortunately, we cannot give a specific timeframe during which processing will be completed. We recognize that the delays caused by the process can be frustrating, but we assure you that we process each case as quickly as possible. For more information about your specific case, please contact the call centre at the email address provided above, call the call centre at 040-4625-8222, or check your case status at the CEAC website.

I wish to visit the U.S. in August 2016 along with my family. We want to conduct memorable service at my mother’s grave in New York, who passed away in 2000. We applied for visas earlier but were rejected. Can we re-apply for visas? What documents should we bring to support our cases?

Asrar Abdul Karim

All non-immigrant visa applications are given every possible consideration consistent with U.S. immigration law. However, there is never a guarantee that any applicant will have his/her visa application approved.

Individuals whose non-immigrant visa applications were refused under Section 214 (b) are eligible to reapply but we do not recommend that applicants reapply unless they are able to present significant new evidence that addresses the previous grounds for refusal.

You may choose to bring in documents that support your application to your visa interview. Please keep in mind that the officer may not review your documents and that there is no guarantee that bringing in specific documents will result in the issuance of a visa. Please visit our website for more information on bringing documents to the visa interview.

I attended the visa interview in June. I was told that my visa was approved but I have not received it yet. How can I get my visa stamped passport?
