No entry for vehicles in PM's route

August 06, 2016 01:31 am | Updated 01:31 am IST - HYDERABAD:

The entire stretch from Begumpet airport to L.B. Stadium would turn a fortress on Sunday afternoon minutes before Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s arrival to participate in a BJP meeting at the stadium.

In view of PM’s visit to the city on Sunday to attend two public meetings – one at Gajwel of Medak district and another at L.B. stadium in Hyderabad, the police have decided not to leave anything to chance in terms of security. The stretch from the Begumpet airport to L.B. stadium would literally be taken over by the police though officials assure that there would be minimum inconvenience to public.

“With the road being kept free, the journey wouldn’t be longer than ten minutes. But keeping in view the threat perception to the Prime Minister, the entire route is being sanitised,” said a city police officer. From the airport, the PM’s convoy would reach the stadium via Greenlands flyover, Raj Bhavan road, Khairatabad flyover, Telugu Talli statue, Ravindra Bharathi and the stadium’s A gate.

Every building located on this route is being checked. All lanes and by-lanes meeting the road would be barricaded.
