NIT to set up electronics, ICT academy

The National Institute of Technology (NIT), Warangal with the support of Telangana government bagged the opportunity to set up an Electronics and ICT Academy. This academy was sanctioned by Department of Electronics and Information Technology (DietY), Govt. of India with a mandate to boost the employability skills of the engineers and graduates through formal training of the faculty and working engineers.  Another goal of this academy was to create awareness among the faculties of engineering, science and arts to include ICT tools in their teaching and evaluation process.  The State government is going to participate in this academy by encouraging polytechnic and university teachers in certain tailor made programs. NIT director Prof T. Srinivasa Rao  the budget for academy of NIT, Warangal  was Rs. 25 crore over a period of five years to train 4,000 faculty  per each year by each academy.  It was envisaged that this major thrust would revolutionise the engineering education through the use of modern teaching aids like MOOCs, NPTEL, MOODLE, Courseera.
