Unlike the existing system, the new districts will have integrated office complexes, including the District Collectorate, soon.
They would have heads of all the departments at the district-level. The works on the one coming up at the newly formed Jangaon district would be launched by Deputy Chief Minister Kadiam Srihari on October 11, commemorating the one year of formation of the district. The State government has decided to lay the foundation stones for all the district offices across the state on the same day.
Collector Allamraju Devasena said the district administration has selected the land suitable for the integrated complex on the Jangaon – Suryapet road. A 25-acre land belonging to the Sri Chennakeshava Swamy temple was identified. “It is easily accessible to all the 13 mandals of the districts,” she told The Hindu.
However, issues have come up regarding that piece of land. About a decade ago, some poor people had raised huts on the very land with the help of CPI (M). On coming to know that the district collectorate was going to come up there, they were now demanding that the government sanction housing forthwith. About 400 people have raised huts and temporary houses on eight acres of area and named the colony Asireddy nagar. They had launched protests for some months as well.
The district administration along with local MLAs M. Yadagiri Reddy and Errabelli Dayakar Rao and T. Rajaiah spoke to the slum dwellers and convinced them to move out of the area. Following this, the revenue department acquired the land from the endowments department for ₹7.9 crore. The State government has allotted ₹35crore for the integrated complex. The plans for the construction of the new buildings have been prepared. It would have conference halls, auditoriums, waiting rooms for the public, toilets, parking places and a helipad within the collector office complex.
